Early American railroads were instrumental in shaping the nation's economic landscape, promoting westward expansion, and influencing various social and cultural aspects of American life. They transformed the United States into a more interconnected and industrialized nation.
Common place terms like “on the right track” or “wrong side of the tracks” were the result of the railroads. Because of a need for trains to have a common schedule, time zones and a standardized time reference was established.
The museum will be totally free of charge, a gift to the community from John & Penny Hawkins and dedicated to the memory of Lawrence Ducote.

The Train House Museum is a free museum dedicated to the education of children and adults about railroads and the impact they had on settling our Country, the evolution from steam power in the 1800’s to diesel electric today and the benefits to the American economy.
There will be interactive model train setups showing the various model train gauges from N scale to G scale and our focus will be teaching the history of railroads and our country.
There will also be displays of model cars spanning the model years from the 1920’s to the 1950’s.
